Engineer Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, Chief Job Creation Officer of Bab Rizq Jameel (BRJ) and Mr. Abdulwahab Al Fayez, Editor-in-Chief of Al Eqtisadiah newspaper launched "Gallup-Bab Rizq Jameel Employment Index" in cooperation with Al Eqtisadiah. The new index will help introducing situations and facts of labor market to the leaders of businesses and establishments in the private sector, and will highlight situations of labor in particular and economy in general in Saudi Arabia. An agreement was made between the Gallup World Poll and Bab Rizq Jameel (BRJ), which is part of Abdul Latif Jameel Community Services Programs

 
(ALJCSP), to launch the "Gallup-Bab Rizq Jameel Employment Index ".Gallup International asked questions about hundreds of topics related to labor market in the Kingdom. Thousands of people were interviewed in 15 Saudi cities. The sample consisted of 50% males and 50% females in the age group 18 to 66. For results based on the total sample of adults, one can say with 95% confidence that the maximum margin of error is ±4.5 percentage points. Several workshops prepared the questions in partnership with academics, media experts, businessmen, women and others. A team of economists, administrators and psychologists from Gallup supervised the process of developing structures for global indexes.

On its side, Al Eqtisadiah will publish the results of the index on daily basis. The results will help reflecting a true image of the concerns of labor market in the Saudi private sector.
Gallup-Bab Rizq Jameel Employment Index investigates public opinion on hundreds of topics related to labor market. This will include:
  • Employee satisfaction with the job
  • Opportunity to do what the employee do best
  • Employee feels that the job is important
  • Employee commitment to produce high quality work
  • Appropriate time for young males and females to start their own projects
  • Considering changing current job during the first 12 months
  • How many house helper do you have at home?
  • Job security in the private sector.

The questionnaire includes hundreds of topics related to job, work and employee. In addition, there is a special part concerning those who desire to start their own small businesses.

Mr. Al Fayez was pleased with partnership with BRJ. He said that publishing such facts and data will empower leaders of business to have a better understanding of labor market situations in the Kingdom.

Engineer Jameel said that the index will help maximizing job opportunities in the private sector through enhancing understanding of business leaders of the actual employment situations, and will help them make the right decisions in the area of job creation.

Data gathering and analysis has started in the beginning of 2009. New data and findings will be added on daily basis through the website
